Choir or chorus?
The Italian word “coro” means both choir and chorus. In this vein the Musica Lirica ensemble is a cross between a mixed (SATB) choir and a chorus. We make no distinction between the two terms. Musica Lirica performs music from musical theatre to oratorios as well as providing the chorus for operas from Dido and Aeneas to Puccini’s Il trittico. Great music requires no distinction. This flexibility means that if the work to be performed needs a chorus, which may only have a small part to play in the overall work, our singers can work on another project simultaneously. We have a wide cross section of ages from older teens upwards.
New members always welcome. There are no auditions for the ensemble. We meet every Monday 7.30pm – 9.30pm during term time. Subs £3 per session.
